Atomic power? Just Perhaps

When politicians need a little breathing space they order stress-tests. In Europe, Japan’s nuclear crisis suddenly changed the object of policymakers’ focus from the stricken banks to the continent’s atomic reactors. In Germany, for example, the previously agreed extensions to the operating life of the country’s oldest nuclear plants were quickly put on ice in an attempt to diffuse public anxiety. However, in order to leave the door open to a comeback, all plants in Europe will be subjected to stress-testing.
